Foodprint
We all leave our mark on this planet - that is inevitable. However, our society has a rather problematic track record, especially when it comes to the supply of food.
Food production is a key factor in global warming. The enormous consumption of space and resources that occurs when producing food can only be justified if we actually use these resources.
However, much of what is produced for food consumption ends up unused in the trash.
Not only the food banks, but also those involved in the production and distribution of food see this as a problem. By responsibly taking over unsold food, enormous amounts of food are actually saved.
There is a lot to do - starting with food packaging - and society is becoming increasingly aware of the tasks ahead. Our contribution to the footprint of our food consumption is to make more of what is produced usable. For the good of the environment, for the good of society, but above all for the good of our needy members of our communities.
